October 4, 2003

Met up with a number of friends from Trinity, where I had my Foundation Studies Program before university, today. Such good fun seeing them again after all this time, though many of them I frequently meet anyway. We had lunch at White Lotus, a vegetarian restaurant, at the mention of which I had gasped in horrible realization that I was not to have any meat. Of course, we all walked out of the restaurant feeling full and satisfied; the food was delicious as heck, it was not expensive, and, most of all, it was HEALTHY :D And did I mention delicious? :D

After a lot of chatting and such, I headed off to Rin, a local sushi train bar, and sat there contemplating my Prolog programming project, while munching on a sushi plate or two in addition to nice and warm green tea. They do REALLY GOOD sushi... perhaps one of the best-tasting ones I've ever had. Saturday and Sunday are "sushi days" too, when all sushi plates are AU$2.20 only, which is sweet. The place is just so nice and comfortable too, I felt like sitting there forever X3;

I wonder if it's normal to enjoy life and good food while half your brain is being eaten away by university stress? XD;

October 6, 2003

Today has been the most eventful day in the last couple of months of my life. So many things happened that I don't quite know how to react to each one of them. But let me try to recount them all...

Today is the first day of school after the two-week midsemester break, so I made my way to the 10AM Marketing lecture. Not before I bought myself a niiice thick sandwich from Crown Cafe for breakfast, though :D The tutor handed back the essay we did, and I got okay marks for that. Giddiness #1. Two classes later, I headed back to the city, and stayed at Gloria Jean's for nearly two hours (!), working on my programming project over a mocha caramelatte and a mocha truffle. I had to do that because when I'm at home I just couldn't seem to concentrate enough to work out the logic formulae. Went to Minotaur, a local pop culture/comic shop after that, and actually managed to find the "Australian comics" shelf this time. Saw Piro's Moshi Moshi and some other neato local comics. Yes, I am obsessively into self-publishing now, and looking at all those self-published comics gave me countless numbers of inspiration. Giddiness #2.

While waiting for the postcard job (yeah, I'm making postcards out of that Christmas pic) at WOP to be finished, I walked around the area and found another printer that was small but looked promising. Asked for a quote and was pleasantly surprised... might consider that place for next time. More postcards, maybe. Since WOP hadn't called yet after a long while, and I just happened to be next to the only Quiznos in Melbourne, I decided to give it a try. Boy they've got nice stuff :o I went for the Honey Mustard chicken salad, and it was yum :9~

Went to WOP and got the postcards afterwards, WOP has reasonable prices and prints beautiful stuff (if a bit too blue), I was so happy when I walked out of it with the postcards. Giddiness #3. Passed this videogame/DVD store I'd always known was there but never quite bothered to enter, and was very pleasantly surprised to find that not only do they have a massive selection of games, DVD, and other neat stuff for sale, they also have them for rent! :o Never knew we had something like that so close by... neeeeaaat. I didn't have any bank statement/proof of address with me today though, so I'm coming back tomorrow to apply for membership. Giddiness #4.

Met up with a friend at the church for an evening mass, which somehow ended up with my meeting 238752 (okay, well, maybe not) other friends who also happened to go to the same mass. Giddiness #5. Went home and checked my email, and discovered that one of my Trinity Foundation Studies teacher had passed away due to illness. Cancer is my suspicion, since apparently she was having multiple treatments in the last year. She was so young, and she was one of my favorite teachers. She also had two little girls I think? Shock. Hopefully the only one. May she rest in peace.

Uh.. what else? X3 As I said, too many things happened today, I _know_ this entry is way too erratic to be readable at all. But here's hoping that writing them all down would help me sort things out =D

I knew I forgot something *_* Add these to the list of things happening around/to me at the moment:
- Prolog programming project, still not done.
- Second marketing essay, due Oct 13 but will have to finish by Friday since I've got Animania.
- Which also brings us to the looong list of stuff I need to do to prepare for it, including making prints, etc.
- And by the way, I've got another Java programming project due on Oct 20.
Ohohoho.

Got back from Sydney yesterday morning. Animania was a heck lot of fun... at least the Artist Alley was. I wouldn't know about the rest of it, since I spent most of my time on the upper floor, otherwise known as the Art Floor -- aside from the Artist Alley, it's got all the art show, panels, workshops, competitions, and such, hence the nickname X3 Anyway, as I said, I had a lot of fun~~ Met a lot of people, both new and old, all interesting and exciting to talk to. Thanks for everyone who dropped by! =D

I might write a detailed report later... but I don't feel like it at the moment, mostly since I'm swamped with stuff to do. Urgent ones, too... so sorry if I've been slow at e-mails too ^^;

Oya, I went to a good friend's 21st birthday dinner today, we had steamboat and boy am I full. Made plans for crazy drinking girls-only night, heheh.

Taking a minute off Java coding for my project here... iiiinhaleee... exhaaaale... argh I'm getting some sleep as soon as I finish this. Or, you know, do some of the other work I have lined up. Will update website after the weekend, and will give all of you some love start replying to e-mails after that too.

I want some sushi.

October 27, 2003

Managed to finish off the Java project in time =D Lost quite a bit of sleep and sanity in the process; it really would've helped if the lecturer had announced the 2-day extension BEFORE the due date. But still, it's been submitted, it's been tested, so it's all good X3 My exam timetable is scary though... I've got three days of exams in a row, and I've got two in the second one O_O; I hope I can survive through this...
